If your exterior is looking tired, you've got two realistic paths: paint it again, or side it. Both are legitimate. The right answer depends on the condition of what's under the paint and how long you plan to stay.
When repainting wins
Your existing siding is sound, you like the material, and you're comfortable repainting every 5 to 8 years in our humidity. Paint is the lower up-front cost and preserves the character of older wood siding.
When vinyl siding wins
You're on your third repaint, you're finding rot or hardboard swelling, or you simply don't want to think about your exterior again for decades. Quality vinyl commonly lasts 30 to 40 years here and needs little more than an annual rinse.
